Quick update

By Dejan | Uncategorized | Add comment

Well not much to report.  I’m still waiting for the enlarger, it should be here tomorrow hopefuly.  The chemistry for the darkroom that I ordered will not be delivered until 7th, which means I will only be able to verify that the enlarger is working, but nothing else.  Printing will have to wait at least another couple of weeks.  In the mean time I will be busy with some digital photography.

Yesterday I had a fairly busy day.  Went to Southcenter mall and IKEA, unfrotunately at IKEA they ran out of the light I wanted.  How’s it possible for IKEA to run out of stuff?  Fortunately at the mall I managed to get exactly the pants, shirt and shoes combo I wanted.  Seems like I’m all set for new years.  After that I went to pickup Yoli from the airport and take her home.

Today I went to GMB dinner at Red Robin.  There weren’t that many people there, but it was nice catching up.  Hopefully I’ll manage to pull off another GMB gettogether at my place.

Will update more tomorrow if the enlarger arrives.

Contact Form

By Dejan | Uncategorized | Add comment

I added the contact form today.  I realized that I didn’t have my email up here and no way for people to contact me from the blog, so check it out on the menu at right.  Hopefully it will be sufficient for some quick emails and what not.

Today I also went to an awesome REI sale and got myself a nice parka coat.  It should be great for the rainy Seattle weather.  Tomorrow I should be at Macy’s looking at some blazers.  With all these post-Christmas sales going on it’s pretty hard to resist.

Twitter time

By Dejan | Uncategorized | Add comment

I added twitter on the right toolbar.  This way there would be pretty much daily updates.  Other than that the darkroom chemistry has been ordered and I’m waiting for it.  I also ordered some pretty sweet prosciutto from Scott Hams (www.scotthams.com).  It should be arriving in less than a week and I can’t wait to cut into it.  Prosciutto is GREAT on pizza, so you can expect more pizza parties once it’s here. I will probably make a pizza party after Rex’s dance show, I’m hopping the weekend of the 16th of January, depending on people’s availability.

Darkroom project

By Dejan | Photography | Add comment

Since I will have almost 2 weeks off during this Christmas break, I decided to do something worth while.  Since one of my bathrooms is free I decided to put in a portable darkroom.  The idea is to have a darkroom that will take me no more than 10 mintues to setup and teardown.  This way the darkroom will be fully mobile and the only reason to use the bathroom is because it’s easy to make it completely dark.  I will also hope to be able to pack it up in my car and take it to other places, but I’m not sure how much use I will have for an “on-location” darkroom.

I purchased what’s supposed to be the center piece of the darkoom 2 days ago.  It’s an Omega C-700 enlarger.  I got in on Ebay for $28.  Can’t beat that price.  I’ve been looking at chemicals I need, and it looks like I could have everything I need for the darkroom for under $100.  I like the enlarger since it has the color head and there is no need for sheet filters, everything can be just dialed on the head, much easier.  I hope to get it sometimes after the Christmas rush and test it out.  It should also be easy to fold it up and store it when not in use.

The plan was to go shoot some film in the next few days and try and develop it, but the weather has been ridiculous and I don’t want to drive around unless I really need to.  I will be posting some progress of the darkroom once I get the enlarger.  I hope to be able to take some awsome B&W photos of the dancers and print them on large sheets, talking bigger than 11×14.

Christmas came early for me this year

By Dejan | Uncategorized | Add comment

Yesterday I got my Christmas present.  My parents decided to give it to me early.  Acctually I helped them buy it.  I got a 45-bottle wine cooler.  It’s sweet.  Now I finally can store all those bottles of wine I’ve been collecting and hopefully I’ll drink a few, since some of them are up to 2 years old.

I made a tiramisu today.  Somehow it felt like a perfect desert for snowy weather.
